Important advances have resulted from the application of our Contin controlled-release delivery technology to well-known medications. MS Contin tablets were the first morphine preparation to provide 12-hour relief of pain in cancer patients, and is considered a major advance in improving the quality of life for patients with not only cancer pain, but non-malignant pain as well.

Recognition of the need for analgesics other than morphine to control pain of both cancer and non-cancer origin has led to the application of our controlled-release technology to other analgesics: Codeine Contin tablets (codeine for mild to moderate pain); OxyContin tablets (oxycodone for moderate to severe pain), and Hydromorph Contin capsules (hydromorphone for severe pain) - all of which offer advantages over the short-acting forms of these drugs.

Contin controlled-release technology also enabled the development of the first theophylline for once-a-day administration. Designed so that maximum bronchodilator activity coincides with the time of day that most asthmatic patients experience their greatest airways obstruction, Uniphyl tablets have been shown to be significantly more effective than other forms of theophylline.
