Adjacent to a picturesque conservation area and with easy access to the area's major transportation arteries, Purdue Pharma's Canadian facility houses administration, research, manufacturing, and sales support functions. The design objective of this visually impressive building, was to support performance excellence, by all accounts, this has been achieved. The four-story office tower, offset to afford maximum view of the wooded conservation area, is constructed of high tensile concrete, highlighted by ground floor exterior columns, which continue through the sloped upper floor windows. A single story transition section partially surrounds the two-story manufacturing and warehouse areas. The sloped windows are incorporated into the north and east sides, and the round columns extend along the west side. The converging walls of the low bay transition and the office tower form a natural entrance to the facility. The internal layout of the office is designed to afford a view of the outside for all employees, and departments are strategically located to maximize interaction. In the state of the art manufacturing area, a unique visitors gallery permits viewing of the operations without intruding on the controlled atmosphere required for the production of pharmaceuticals. A theatre with modern audio visual equipment and a bright cafeteria which views the restful greenery of the conservation area, round out this people-oriented facility. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
